New Challenge: Publish one piece of content every day

It’s time for a new challenge. If you have read my previous blog posts, you would’ve known that I do like to take up new challenges like “only cold showers” or “speaking to at least one stranger every day”, etc. I have also taken multiple unpublicised challenges like publish one blog posts every day or programming every day something other than work, etc.

This challenge is something similar to that.

I want to create/publish at least one piece of content every day.

Here content can be anything - text (like a blog post, tweetstorms, LinkedIn post, etc.), images/photos (I can post on Instagram/Facebook), videos (that I can publish on YouTube, Facebook, stream on twitch, etc.) or any new content format/type that gets invented in the future.

Why do I want to do this?

The reason why I am doing this is very simple. I have been consulting with startups and businesses for a while and one of the things I suggest they do is to publish more content - on their site and other social media platforms. This is especially important if you want to show yourself as an expert in your field.

A few clients understand this and when they started doing it, they became successful. Many, however, don’t want to do this. They cite various reasons like lack of time or resources to create beautiful videos or photos, or they can’t come up with fresh content every week.

If really think about it, it’s all about the RoI of the effort they put in. They don’t see any significant returns on all the content they spend so much money creating. So they stop doing it and then complain it doesn’t work.

”But, why don’t you do it?

But, what’s even worse is the person who is advising them to publish more, isn’t publishing anything himself.

I stopped publishing any blog post or articles anywhere for quite some time and I am a hypocrite for suggesting that they publish. I wanted to change that before any of my clients ask the question “Why don’t you do it?”

So, that’s why I am taking up this challenge to publish at least one piece of content every day.

Give it time

And it’s important that I start it today, on February 29 (a leap day) so that by the time the next February 29 comes up, I can show everyone that this works.

Just because I start publishing content, I won’t get hordes of new followers or clients in a week. It would be a slow process and take a few years. I heard a nice quote recently by Bill Gates.

“Most people overestimate what they can do in one year and underestimate what they can do in ten years.”

I want to make sure that I give enough time for this challenge that it would give me exponential returns a few years later. I am sure if I continue publishing every day, I would be in a much better position by the next February 29.

About the rules

What do you think about this challenge? Post them in the comments your thoughts.
